What is a TT16 file?
A TT16 file is a tax return created by the 2016 version of TurboTax Canada. It contains Canadian federal and province tax information and income and personal data entered by the user. TT16 files are most commonly created and used in 2016 between January and April.
More Information
The TT16 file is created once you save your tax return in TurboTax Canada. It is the main file type used by TurboTax Canada and is primarily utilized for three purposes:
- Saving a 2016 tax return to be electronically filed or printed to be mailed in.
- Backing up a tax return in case of the loss or corruption of a tax return.
- Importing 2016 tax data into the 2016 version of TurboTax Canada.
Tax return file extensions used by TurboTax Canada reflect the year of the tax data they contain. Tax returns for the 2015 year use the .TT15 extension, returns for the 2014 year use the .TT14 extension, and so on.
NOTE: The U.S. version of TurboTax 2016 saves files with a .TAX2016 file extension.
