What is a T22 file?
A T22 file is a tax return created by the 2022 version of H&R Block Tax Software for PC. It contains a user's 2022 tax data, including their federal and state tax forms and other information.

The Windows and macOS versions of H&R Block Tax Software 2022 create a T22 file when you save your tax return progress. You can close H&R Block Tax Software 2022 and re-open your T22 file to resume working on your return.
By default, H&R Block Tax Software 2022 saves T22 files in the following directory:
~/Documents/HR Block
The program also creates a T22 file when you back up your return, by selecting File → Backup Tax Return.
NOTE: The file extension that H&R Block Tax Software appends to your tax return file indicates the year of the return. For example, T22 files are created by H&R Block Tax Software 2022, .T21 files are created by H&R Block Tax Software 2021, and so on.

MyTaxes.t22 - Default filename given to H&R Block 2022 tax return files, although you can rename the file.
How to open a T22 file
You can open a T22 file with H&R Block Tax Software (2022 or later) in Windows and macOS. In post-2022 versions of H&R Block Tax Software, importing your T22 file allows you to use the information it contains to start that year's return.
How to convert a T22 file
You can use H&R Block Tax Software 2022 to save the tax return a T22 file contains as a .PDF (Portable Document Format) file. To do so, open the T22 file in H&R Block Tax Software 2021 and select File → Save As PDF....
You can then use the PDF file as an easily-accessible backup of your 2022 tax return. You can also import the PDF file into other tax software if, for example, you decide to use another program to file your 2023 taxes.
