A SIS file may also be an image data file saved in the ImageCore format, which is commonly used by arivis Vision4D imaging science software. It contains image data, which may include spatial plane, channel, and frame dimension data. SIS files support 8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit, and 32 bit (float) data depths and also store metadata and color settings.

arivis Vision4D is a 2D/3D/4D imaging application that allows you to annotate, visualize, and analyze biological images on the microscopic level. You can view 2D and 3D images, as well as 4D images, which is a 3D image that includes time data. The ImageCore format was developed in order to store the large amount of image data necessary for arivis software to render the images.
To open a SIS file in Vision4D, simply click File → Open..., and select the SIS file you want to open. You may also import an image saved in another format to Vision4D by selecting File → Import. The image will automatically be converted to the ImageCore format.
NOTE: The ImageCore format was introduced in 1997.
