A PX file may also be a statistical database crated for use with PxWin, a statistics analysis program created by Statistics Sweden. It contains a table-based dataset used to perform statistical analyses and calculations. PX files typically contain official government statistics.
More Information
Statistics Sweden is a Swedish government agency responsible for producing and disseminating official government statistics. One of the ways Statistics Sweden disseminates statistics is by providing datasets saved as PX files. These files can be opened and analyzed in PxWin, which is available for download from Statistics Sweden's website.
Each PX file consists of a set of key-value pairs that describe their dataset's contents, followed by the dataset itself. In addition to being able to retrieve PX files from Statistics Sweden, users can create their own PX files from within PxWin, by clicking the Save button while viewing a database (or subset of a database).
NOTE: Statistics Finland, Statistics Norway, Statistics Latvia, and Statistics Iceland also publish statistical databases saved in the PX format.
How to open a PX file
You can open a PX file with Statistics Sweden PxWin (Windows). To do so, open PXWin and then drag and drop your PX file into the program.
