A PRE file may also be a settings file used by the SR Research EyeLink 1000 eye tracker. It contains gain and offset presets previously saved by a user. PRE files are created and loaded in the EyeLink 1000 Host application's Plot View, available from the Record screen.
More Information
Clinical researchers use the EyeLink 1000 eye tracker to record participants' eye movements during experiments. The device is controlled from a host computer, which has the EyeLink 1000 Host application installed in a partition.
The EyeLink 1000 Host application allows a researcher to calibrate the EyeLink 1000 device for a specific user's eyes. When calibrating using analog or raw gain and offset values (in contrast to the typical nine-point calibration method), the researcher can save their calibration settings in a PRE file. This allows them to quickly load their calibration settings again in the future (for example, if the same participant returns for a follow-up).
How to open a PRE file
You can open a PRE file with the SR Research EyeLink 1000 Host application, which is typically installed in its own partition on a PC. To do so, open the application, select Plot View, and then select Load. Then, navigate to and open your PRE file.
