What is an NTN file?
An NTN file is a musical score composed using VirtuosoWorks NOTION. It contains musical notation, including measures, notes, rests, and time signatures. This notation can be edited and played back in NOTION.
More Information
VirtuosoWorks NOTION is a now-discontinued scorewriter that allowed composers to create, edit, and play back musical scores. Most notably, NOTION used audio samples recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra, specifically for use with NOTION, to play back users' scores. This gave NOTION's playback a realistic, live performance-esque sound.
NOTION saved the scores that composers created as NTN files. When opened in NOTION, these scores appear as editable sheet music, consisting of a score title, author name, measures, notes, rests, tempo notation, and other musical notation.
How to open an NTN file
You can open an NTN file with VirtuosoWorks NOTION (Windows, Mac), to view, edit, and play back the score it contains. However, NOTION is no longer available for download or purchase. If you do not already have access to NOTION, it is unlikely that you'll be able to open your NTN file.
