What is an NSMPPROJ file?
An NSMPPROJ file is a Nord Sample Editor project file. It contains metadata used to load a Nord Sample Editor project. For example, an NSMPPROJ file contains a reference to the audio files included in a user's project. It does not contain any actual audio data.
More Information
Nord Sample Editor is an application that musicians use to create custom sampled instruments for Nord electronic keyboards, including the Nord Stage and Nord Piano. It is available for Windows and macOS.
Each Nord Sample Editor project is saved as an NSMPPROJ file. This file lists various project metadata, including:
- The file paths to audio files imported into or recorded for the project
- The version of Nord Sample Editor that created the project
- Settings for the sampled instrument a musician has created
- Note mapping information
Notably, NSMPPROJ files do not contain a copy of imported or recorded audio files. Thus, if you move an audio file an NSMPPROJ file references, that project will not load correctly in Nord Sample Editor.
How to open an NSMPPROJ file
You can open an NSMPPROJ file with Nord Sample Editor. To do so, select the OPEN button in the program's menu bar. Then, navigate to and open your NSMMPROJ file.
You can also open an NSMPPROJ file with Microsoft Notepad, Apple TextEdit, or any other text editor, if you want to view the metadata the file contains as plain text.
