What is an IMP file?
Native spreadsheet file created by the Lotus Improv application; divides data, views of the data, and formulas into three segments, which is different than most spreadsheet applications and makes it difficult to transfer to more common applications like Excel.

Lotus Improv was a spreadsheet program released in 1991 for the NeXTSTEP platform and later released for Windows in 1993. It attempted to change how data in spreadsheets was stored in order to make editing more simple and accurate. The program was eventually discontinued in 1996 after Lotus was purchased by IBM.

An IMP file may also be a project created by Logotron Imagine, an educational tool used by students to develop creative skills. It contains project information, which may include animations, composed music, drawn graphics, picture puzzles, timetables, games, and commands that control turtles in the program.

You can create an IMP file in Imagine by selecting File → Save Project or Save Project As..., choosing "Imagine projects" as the type, and clicking Save.
You can open an IMP file in Imagine by selecting File → Open Project..., navigating to the IMP file, and clicking Open.
