What is an HYP file?
An HYP file is a compressed archive created by Hyper, an archiving utility for MS-DOS. It contains one or more compressed files. HYP files are compressed using a variant of Lempel-Ziv-Welch (LZW) compression.
More Information
German developers Peter Sawatzki and Klaus Peter Nischke created Hyper in the late 1980s. This shareware utility allows MS-DOS users to compress one or more files and store them in an archive that uses the .hyp extension.
How to open an HYP file
You can use Hyper to extract the files an HYP file contains. Because Hyper is available only for MS-DOS, you may have to run it in an MS-DOS emulator, such as DOSbox.
