.HWT File Extension

Many Huawei smartphones, including the Honor brand of phones, use EMUI as their user interface. These phones come pre-installed with Huawei Themes, Huawei's official theme, text style, and wallpaper customization app.

While users can select and purchase themes in Huawei Themes, many choose to download third-party themes from the Internet. Both official and unofficial themes are saved as HWT files. These files are renamed .ZIP files, which contain all the images and fonts used to apply a theme.

NOTE: EMUI is also known as Magic UI.

You can open an HWT file in Huawei Themes (Android). To do so:

1. Use a file manager to place the file in your Huawei EMUI smartphone's ~/​Internal storage/​Huawei/​Themes directory. (On Magic UI phones, place the file in the ~/​Internal storage/​Theme directory.)
2. Open Huawei Themes and select Me → My themes.
3. The theme your HWT file contains should appear. Select the theme and then Apply.

If you want to view the assets an HWT file contains, rename the file to use the .zip extension and open it as you would any ZIP file.
