What is an H5E file?
An H5E file is an effect preset created by Line 6 POD HD500 Edit, a preset editor for the POD HD500 guitar multi-effects pedal. It contains a variety of settings that modify an electric guitar's sound. These settings are grouped into the FX, AMPS, Mixer, and Controllers categories.
More Information
Using POD HD500 Edit, guitarists can create effect presets for use with the POD HD500 guitar pedal. Guitarists can then transfer their presets to the pedal and select them during a performance, to apply the audio effects the presets contain.
POD HD500 Edit saves individual presets as H5E files. (The program also allows guitarists to create preset set lists, saved as .H5S files, and preset bundles, saved as .H5B files.) By default, POD HD500 Edit saves H5E files in the following directories:
- Windows: ~/My Documents/Line 6/Tones/POD HD500 Edit
- Mac: ~/Documents/Line 6/Tones/POD HD500 Edit
NOTE: In POD HD500X Edit (the preset editing app for the POD HD500X), the .5XE format replaced the H5E format.
How to open an H5E file
You can open an H5E file with POD HD500 Edit. To do so, select File → Open... from the program's menu bar. Then, navigate to and open your H5E file.
You can also open an H5E file with POD HD500X Edit. To do so, either drag and drop the file into the program, or rename the file to use the .5xe extension before opening it.
