What is a GLV file?
A GLV file is a low-resolution video created by various Garmin devices, such as CamperCam 795 and Garmin Dash Cam 46, to provide a mobile preview of a high-resolution .MP4 video. Several Garmin mobile apps, including the VIRB, Drive, and dēzl mobile apps, support the Garmin low-resolution format (GLV) and automatically load GLV files to display previews within the app of the MP4 videos the files accompany.
More Information
Many Garmin devices generate GLV files to accompany the MP4 files they create to store the high-resolution videos they record. Examples of devices include:
- Garmin Dash Cam (46, 47, 56, 57, 66W, and 67W)
- Garmin Dash Cam Mini and Mini 2
- Garmin CamperCam 795
- dezlCam LGV710 and OTR710
NOTE: Some device recording modes do not generate GLV files. For example, Garmin Dash Cam models generate GLV files in all recording modes except Travelapse.
How to open a GLV file
You should not attempt to open GLV files. Instead, the Garmin mobile app loads GLV files when you browse the MP4 videos they accompany within the app. Examples of Garmin apps that support GLV files include VIRB, Drive, and dēzl (Android and iOS).
