What is a GBP file?
More Information
The GBP file functions similar to a .PDF file. It is an exported version of the PCB layout and used to create stencils. The stencils are then used to apply paste to boards for adding surface-mount devices (SMD), like pads. It is meant to be viewed and referenced but not edited.
NOTE: The Gerber format was originally developed by Gerber Systems but is now maintained by Ucamco.
Common GBP Filenames
[projectname].gbp - The GBP file is named after the name of your PCB project.

Archive index file created by Genie Timeline, a backup and recovery program for desktop computer and mobile device files; contains the index of a collection of files that the user has chosen to backup; may reference a single archive or a multi-volume spanned archive; used for restoring the backed up files.
More Information
Genie Timeline creates the GBP index file at the end of a backup session. Without this file, the backup cannot be restored. GBP files are created with the naming conventions backup.gbp, backup.X.gbp, and backup(X).X.gbp, where "X" is a digit.
Genie Timeline can be used for incremental or full backups and can incorporate optional compression.
NOTE: Genie Timeline Backup uses .ZIP compression for backups, so you can use any Zip decompression utility to manually examine the contents of backup files.

gBurner Project

A GBP file may also be a project file created by gBurner, a CD and DVD burning program. It contains binary data used to load a previously saved gBurner project. GBP files do not contain the video, audio, or other files a user has added to their project. Instead, GBP files contain references to those files' locations.
More Information
gBurner allows users to burn video, audio, image, and other files onto data discs, CDs, and DVDs. To do so, users select the kind of disc they want to create, select and add the files they want to burn onto the disc, and then select Burn.
If a user wants to save an in-progress gBurner disc burning project (perhaps because they want to burn a set of files to additional discs in the future), they can do so by saving the project as a GBP file. GBP files many contain settings for a data disc, audio disc, or video disc burning project. While GBP files contain a list of the files a user intends to burn to a disc, they do not contain a copy of those files. As a result, if you move a file referenced in a GBP file, your GBP file may not load correctly in gBurner.
NOTE: gBurner projects were previously saved in the .GBI format.
How to open a GBP file
You can open a GBP file in gBurner (Windows). To do so, select File → Open... from the program's menu bar. Then, navigate to and select your GBP file.
