An FLM file may also be a music project created by FL Studio Mobile, a music recording, arrangement, and editing app for Android, iOS, and Windows devices. It contains a project's tracks, tempo, keyboard layout, metronome settings, and select user-interface settings.
More Information
FL Studio Mobile is the mobile version of FL Studio, a digital audio workstation (DAW) available for Windows and macOS. Unlike FL Studio, which saves users' projects as .FLP files, FL Studio Mobile saves users' projects as FLM files. The FLP and FLM formats are not cross-compatible, but you can import the project an FLM file contains into FL Studio for desktop (see the instructions below).
How to open an FLM file
You can open an FLM file in Image-Line FL Studio Mobile (Android, iOS, Windows). To do so, select the Import button found on the program's SONGS tab. Then, navigate to and open your FLM file.
How do I open an FLM file in FL Studio for Windows and macOS?
You can transfer FLM projects to the desktop version of FL Studio. Doing so will convert the project to an FLP file. To transfer a project form the mobile version of FL Studio to the desktop version:
- Make sure your mobile device and PC are connected to the same network.
- In FL Studio for desktop, open the FL Studio Mobile menu.
- Select the SHARE tab, and then select Enable sharing.
- In FL Studio Mobile, open your FLM file, and then open the program's settings menu.
- Select the SHARE tab. A button representing the desktop version of FL Studio should appear.
- When prompted, select Send All.
The project your FLM file contains will then appear in FL Studio for desktop, where you can edit it and save it as an FLP file.
