What is a EASM file?

An EASM file is a CAD drawing created by Dassault Systemes eDrawings Publisher, a plug-in used to export designs from CAD applications. It is saved in a format based on the HOOPS Stream (.HSF) file format. EASM files can be opened in Dassault Systemes' free eDrawings Viewer, allowing CAD users to share drawings with those who do not have access to paid CAD applications.

eDrawings Publisher is a plug-in available for many CAD applications, including Dassault Systemes SolidWorks, Autodesk AutoCAD, Dassault Systemes CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, Trimble SketchUp, and more. Publisher allows CAD users to export their 2D and 3D models in compressed and easy-to-open formats, so they can share the models over the Internet and with users who do not have access to CAD software.

EASM files contain 3D assemblies that have been exported using eDrawings Publisher. After exporting an assembly as an EASM file, CAD users can share the file with anyone who has access to eDrawings Viewer, which is available as a free download on Dassault Systemes website.

How to open a EASM file

You can open EASM files in Dassault Systems eDrawings Viewer (Windows, Mac) or the mobile versions of eDrawings (iOS, Android). Both applications include tools that allow users to switch between drawing views and examine models in-depth. eDrawings Viewer allows users to print drawings and export them in other file formats.
