.CPBITMAP File Extension

When you set an image as your iOS wallpaper or lock screen, the operating system creates a copy of that image and converts it to the CPBITMAP format. This allows iOS to load the image more efficiently at startup and whenever you view your home or lock screen.

No image viewer or editor can open CPBITMAP files. However, you can use the utilities listed below to convert CPBITMAP files to the .PNG or .JPG format.

You can use the following utilities to convert CPBITMAP files to other formats:

• CPBitmap.github.io (Web)
• CPBitmap File Converter (Web)
• CPBitmap-to-PNG (multiplatform)

For example, CPBitmap.github.io can convert CPBITMAP files to the .PNG, .JPEG, and .TIFF formats.

Note, however, that if your CPBITMAP file is encrypted or saved in an unsupported format, these utilities will not be able to convert your file.
