What is a C2R file?
A C2R file is a "click-to-record" file created by Windows Media Center, a program used to play multimedia content and record TV shows. It contains properties that schedule a TV program recording. These properties include airing time, description, program name, recording quality, and expiration.
More Information
Windows Media Center is a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and media player that was included with some versions of Windows XP, Vista, and 7. When a Windows Media Center user scheduled a TV recording, the program created a C2R file that stored details used to perform the recording at its scheduled time.
How to open a C2R file
C2R files are XML files, which store recording details in a plain text format. As such, you can open them and view the text they contain in any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad (Windows).
You should not edit C2R files, as doing so may cause Microsoft Windows Media Center to be unable to use them correctly.
