What is a AAXC file?
An AAXC file is an encrypted audiobook file downloaded using the Audible app for Android or iOS. It contains an audiobook that can be listened to in Audible for Android or iOS. AAXC files cannot be played in other media players.
More Information
In 2019, the mobile versions of Audible began saving users' audiobooks as AAXC files, instead of .AAX files. AAXC files contain an additional layer of encryption, to prevent users from converting the files to .MP3 files and playing them in non-Audible media players.
None of the free tools that allow users to convert AAX files to MP3 files work on AAXC files. However, Audible users can still download any of their audiobooks as AAX files in the Audible desktop app, and then convert those files to MP3 files.
How to open a AAXC file
You can open and play an AAXC file in Audible for Android and iOS. To do so, use a file manager to place the file in the directory Audible uses to store downloaded audiobooks. The file should then appear in the Downloaded section of your Audible library.
